Alphosyl 2 In 1 ShampooCoal tar has mild antiseptic properties and relieves itching. It also prevents keratinisation of the skin, but the process by which this occurs remains unclear. Keratinisation is the process by which skin cells harden due to the deposition of the protein, keratin within them. This causes irritation and flaking of the skin. Coal tar thus helps reduce the excessive hardening, thickening and scaling of the skin that are characteristic of dandruff, psoriasis and severe eczema. This product is therefore used as a shampoo, to treat dandruff and eczema or psoriasis of the scalp.
